“Political Animals,” the award-winning documentary on the first four openly gay Sacramento legislators — beginning with Sheila Kuehl, followed by Carole Migden, Jackie Goldberg and Christine Kehoe — is now available on Google Play and iTunes.

Produced and directed by Jonah Markowtiz, the film tells the story of these fierce, determined, focused and passionate lesbians who took the very personal cause of equal rights for the LGBTQ community right into the halls of government.

The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, hailed as the “the must-see documentary of 2016 for every feminist” by Bustle, as well as winning the Los Angeles Film Festival’s Documentary and Audience Award in 2016.

Dennis Harvey, a film critic for Variety, wrote in a review of the film that its release in the wake of the election and the increasing prominence of women in politics provided the perfect moment for the film to debut in 2016.

It is also available for schools and students on Kanopy,  the video-on-demand service for college students, and the Video Project, which has a 53-minute educational cut.

Watch the documentary that has provoked and stimulated our audiences across the country, particularly young people, to be involved and strive for the social change we so desperately need right now!
