Case Worker/Administrative Assistant
Myrna Gutierrez was born in Mexico and raised in Los Angeles County. Before joining Supervisor Kuehl’s office, Myrna worked for First 5 Los Angeles for almost a decade in the Office of Government Affairs and Public Policy. During her time there, she managed and coordinated department projects, events, and grant initiatives, including an $18 million Policy Advocacy Fund grant portfolio, $300,000 annual Sponsorships Fund, and $580,000 First 5 network contract. She also consulted for Community Partners, helping to facilitate public listening sessions across LA County on implementation for Proposition 64, as well as community transformation activities for the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) initiative.
Myrna has been working since the age of 16 and comes from very hard-working parents: her pride and joy. Her parents taught her the importance of having a good work ethic, living a life with integrity, kindness, generosity, and respect for all humanity. Suffering two near-death experiences in her young adult life influenced her career choice to be in a life of serving others at the local state and federal level. She is passionate about community and equality for all.
Myrna will obtain her bachelor’s degree In Business Administration with a focus on management from California State University, Los Angeles, in the spring of 2022. In her spare time, she is a motivational speaker for those overcoming adversity. For more than seven years, she has provided free emotional support to patients and families of those who have gone through brain surgery or have had any brain-related injury or trauma. A matcha and coffee connoisseur, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents, listening to her 70-year-old father serenade her, and cooking with her mom. She also enjoys running, being out in nature, and writing poetry and songs.
