Lauren Black

Interim Justice Deputy

Lauren began her career in public service as an attorney with the County in the Office of the County Counsel where she provided legal counsel to a variety of County departments. Immediately prior to joining our team, Lauren worked on jail reform, helping implement strategies recommended by the Department of Justice and partnering with several County departments to improve health care in the jails.

Lauren has extensive experience with the County’s social services departments, including the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of Public Social Services, and the Department of Community and Senior Services. Lauren has also litigated numerous cases for the County involving civil rights, employment, and other legal issues.

Lauren grew up in the San Fernando Valley and is a proud graduate of UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) and UC Hastings College of the Law. She lives in South Pasadena with her partner and two children.
