CANOGA PARK BRIDGE HOUSING PROPOSAL
WEST VALLEY’S FIRST BRIDGE HOUSING
The West San Fernando Valley has seen a dramatic increase in households experiencing homelessness over the last five years, but little help is available in the area. People who want help have to travel many miles to have access to bridge housing or other resources. 7621 Canoga Avenue is a property that served for decades as a Department of Mental Health Center. In March, the Department of Mental Health consolidated their staff in another location and vacated the property at 7621 Canoga Avenue. On June 26, 2018, the Board of Supervisors voted to option the property and explore the feasibility of utilizing the site for bridge housing.
Construction is expected to begin in December on the forthcoming Canoga Park Bridge Housing. This program will connect men and women experiencing homelessness in our community to housing and services.
Please join us for our second community open house to learn more about updates to combat homelessness and opportunities for engagement.
Staff from local government and community groups will be present to answer your questions.
