West Valley/Mt. Communities District Director
Susan Ng serves as Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s District Director for the West Valley and Mountain Communities. She is responsible for district office operations, constituent services, and community engagement.
Prior to joining Supervisor Kuehl’s team, Susan served as the Director of Public Affairs and Integrated Brand Communications at Kaiser Permanente. Her passion to serve others, led her to establish an expansive portfolio of work, including corporate communications, crisis and reputation management, community and government relations, community benefit and volunteer management. During her 15-year tenure, she facilitated building projects and energy efficiency plans. She established a hospital-based farmer’s market in collaboration with the Southland Farmers Market Association. She introduced the practice of community investment to senior leaders, shifting the paradigm from grants management to supporting community-driven health prevention and solutions. She transformed care for uninsured homeless patients by establishing a hospital-based homeless navigator program. She is a thought leader on health care legislation and its impact on patients, providers and the larger community.
Susan received her Speech Communication degree from California State University, Northridge. She is a graduate of the United Way Leadership Program, the Valley Leadership Institute and the Southern California Leadership Network. She is certified in ethnography, a process improvement methodology to identify trends and issues through the lens of end users.
Susan and her family are longtime residents of the San Fernando Valley. She has a long history of serving on community boards, including MEND, Evergreen Senior Center, Valley Industry and Commerce Association and Los Angeles County Commission on Aging.
